Walk for Tim - October 5th, 2008 Sep-22 2008 / 21:47 EDT | posted by GDorman On October 5th, for the first time, myself and Joanna will be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes along with a half-million other walkers across the country. Our goal: To raise $100 million to help fund research for a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.
We will be walking with our friends the Slusarczyk's family, for our little buddy Timothy. He has Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes. He was diagnosed when he was only 15 months old. Since then every day his parent Bogusia and Robert check his sugar about 8 times a day (and at night) and give him shots every time he eats.
We met Tim couple of years ago and he is always happy and smiles no matter what. He's already six years old. Loves to play soccer, and is pretty good at it. We've seen him in action! He likes to swim and ride his bike. He keeps everybody laughing with his tricks and jokes. He is also very faithful in his prayers. As his parents say, every day at bedtime he prays that he will not have diabetes any longer...
Please visit my walker website at http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87171059, call me or email me to donate money to this foundation. Help reach teh foundation goal of $100 million. Every dollar counts!!!
